Chief Walker has been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for over twenty-six years as inspired by her Father and his dedication as an officer to the department. She began her career as a dispatcher and promoted to Deputy Sheriff. She then achieved the rank of Investigator assigned to sexual assault and crimes against children. A Sergeant for twelve years, she had a variety of assignments which included Investigations, Target Team, Patrol, Bicycle Unit and Administration. As a Lieutenant, Chief Walker held positions in Patrol, Traffic, Investigations and Administration. In early 2005 she was transferred back to her beloved Indio Station where she began her career. In January 2006, she was elevated to the rank of Captain and assumed command of the Indio Jail. Chief Walker has a B. S. degree in business management from the University of Redlands. She serves on the boards of Police Activities League, The Valley Partnership and is active in Women Leaders Forum. She is an adjunct faculty member at College of the Desert, where she instructs in the public safety academy. In her limited spare time she is active in Community Theater, and has appeared in 18 local productions with her teenage daughters. She lives in Palm Desert with her husband, Wayne Walker, who just retired from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. They have three children and two grandchildren. |
