Yes, we are currently hiring and testing for Deputy Sheriff Trainee, Deputy Sheriff Lateral, Correctional Deputy I and II, Sheriff 911 Communications Officer (911 Dispatcher) and Sheriff Corrections Assistant Trainee (S.C.A.T.). - What is the starting salary?
- Deputy Sheriff - $4,055 to $5,442 monthly. Salary during academy training $3,939 monthly.
- Correctional Deputy I - $2,621 to $3,519 monthly
- Correctional Deputy II - $3,538 to $4,750 monthly
- 911-Sheriff's Dispatcher - $2,701 to $3,714 monthly ($16,000 Hire / Retention Bonus in Effect).
- S.C.A.T. - $1,971 to $2,565 monthly
- Is there an academy? How long is it? Do I get paid?
- Deputy Sheriff Trainee - P.O.S.T. certified 23-week academy.
- Correctional Deputy I and II - S.T.C. certified 8-week academy.
- 911-Dispatcher - P.O.S.T. certified 3-week academy.
- S.C.A.T. - No academy, on-the-job-training.
You will receive pay and benefits during your academy training. - How long does it take to get hired?
Depending on the background investigation, anywhere from 4 to 6 months from the date of the written exam. - How does the hiring process work if I live out of state?
Candidates who live out-of-state must attend the written examination; however, the remaining selection process may be combined to minimize your visits. - How long are the test results good for?
The test results on the written examination are good for 1 year from the date of the last test. - I'm on active duty in the military, when should I start the process?
You should begin the process when you have a year or less on your enlistment time of service.
