Assistant Sheriff Walker

Walker

Assistant Sheriff Walker has been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for over twenty-nine years as inspired by her Father and his dedication as an officer to the department.

Assistant Sheriff Walker began her career as a dispatcher with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in 1979. After being sworn in as a sheriff’s deputy in late 1980, she has promoted through the sworn ranks in the Coachella Valley, serving as a detective, sergeant and lieutenant in patrol operations. As a captain, she commanded both the Indio Jail and later the Indio Sheriff’s Station, serving as the Chief of Police for both the cities of La Quinta and Coachella.

Assistant Sheriff Walker was appointed as Chief Deputy in January 2008, and oversaw personnel, recruiting, training and countywide dispatch operations. During that assignment she was instrumental in making recruiting gains for the Sheriff’s Department within ethnic and gender minorities to meet Sheriff Sniff’s goals in increasing diversity.

Assistant Sheriff Walker has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Redlands. She serves on the board of the Valley Partnership. She is also a member of the College of the Desert Alumni Association, the Women Leaders Forum, the Women Peace Officers’ Association, and the Desert Actors’ Network.

Assistant Sheriff Walker lives in Palm Desert with her husband, Wayne Walker, a retired Lieutenant from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. They have three children, and two grandchildren.
